Karen Crane

senior communications manager

Karen leads on brand and communication development at Green Alliance. She manages the communications team and oversees the events and publications programmes, media activity and profile development.

Karen edits Green Alliance’s publications and is the editor of Inside Track, Green Alliance’s quarterly magazine, a platform for informed commentary on environmental politics and policy issues.

Current developments are focused on improvements to the website and expanding the use of digital media. Karen is also steering Green Alliance’s series of Catalyst Debates, providing space for expert discussion of current issues.

Karen has been with Green Alliance since 1989, seeing the organisation through an extensive period of growth and development. She was previously head of resources, a post she left for maternity leave in 2005. She returned, initially part-time, to lead the development of Green Alliance’s communications.

Previously, Karen taught English in Madrid and has worked for the London Borough of Greenwich and the University of London. She has also laid hedges and cleared scrub for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Karen has a BSc (hons) in Rural Environment Studies from Wye College, University of London and the RHS General Certificate in Horticulture.
